Our Team

Dr Mandy Lugsdin BAppSci (Ag), BVSc - Business Owner & Head Veterinarian
Certified Fear Free Professional

I am a naturally cheerful and engaging Vet with a passion for working with people and their pets. I love the opportunity to create long-lasting relationships and thrive on the investigation of medical, dermatological, imaging, feline & dental cases well beyond the usual scope of the primary clinician. I have been fortunate to enjoy referrals from other vets for my advanced skills in these areas. I am also known for my caring and empathetic nature and natural ability to build rapport quickly with everyone I work with – clients, fellow team members, and students.

I am very passionate about customer service and can deliver an exceptionally high level of memorable client interaction from the first phone call to the discharge appointment after treatment and beyond. I am energetic and prefer to keep busy. I enjoy a good laugh and love to see people enjoying their roles, life in general, and being happy. I do have a lot of fun in the consultation room on a regular basis with Pet owners.

Working with other motivated, kind & talented team members is really important to me. I believe in the importance of facilitating our team's further education and personal development so we can deliver the highest level of care with outstanding customer service tailored to each individual owner for their pet. I love learning and can be regularly found with my head in a book!

Peter Watson BSc, DipEd - Business Owner and Multi-Tasker

Having been an educator, teaching Mathematics and Physics for 23 years, I have learnt to communicate and work with people. Creating and evolving positive relationships was the part of teaching I enjoyed and am now enjoying in the veterinary industry. Providing high-level customer service and building rapport with owners and their pets is my aim.

I'm a passionate sports person, having played Baseball, Football and Cricket when younger, I now target the Golf arena, decreasing my handicap and finding some fish on the feed to catch. I have two (naughty) puppies, a feline friend to rules the house and too many children.

I look forward to the opportunity to working with you and your significant animal friends as I escort Dr Mandy around the Bendigo surrounds.

Kim Healy - RVN, AVN, FFCP(Veterinary), VTS(Nutrition)
Certified Fear Free Professional

Working with animals has always been my calling! I qualified in 2014 and have continued to advance my skills and experience! I have delivered lectures to other Veterinary Professionals, Teach Dentistry to Vet Students at Charles Sturt University and have an active role in the ongoing training of junior nurses and the upskilling of other veterinary professionals.

In 2021 I achieved a bit of a milestone; I became credentialed as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in the field of Nutrition! Making me the 1 of only 2 in the Southern Hemisphere. I have completed over 200 hours of additional study on nutrition alone and have lectured at various conferences for veterinary professionals. I can help you and your furry friend out with nutrition, whether it's a simple or complex question. I do offer specific nutritional consults and tailor made diet/supplement plans, my philosophy is to feed the pet in front of you.

If you haven't seen me for a nutrition consult then you might catch me doing a dental check, I am a self-proclaimed Dental nerd and will talk your ear off with all things dentistry. I have previously worked with a Veterinary Dentist and assisted with many advanced procedures such as root canals. I will happily answer any questions you have and love helping our furry friends have totally kissable mouths!

I am also obsessed with cats (like Mandy) and love getting smooches and head bonding rituals (head bops) from all our wonderful feline friends! I know our lovely kitty patients need that little bit of extra TLC and are not little dogs.

As a practising fear free professional, it's important to me that our patients are always handled gently, treated with respect, and of course given all the treats!

I can't wait to meet you all and your furry best friend at Bendigo Pet Vets!

Catherine Peters - Trainee Vet Nurse, Dog Obedience Queen & Rural Guru

I have worked in the Veterinary industry for over a year and a half now and fell in love with it instantly! From day one I knew this was the path I wanted to pursue and have been striving to further my knowledge since. I love being able to help pets in need and to see the amazing changes we can make in the lives of our patients and their people. I hope one day to reach my full potential and become a veterinarian and be able to make as much difference as I can in the lives of the beautiful fur babies we see each day.

I have spent most of my life working with animals from being a dog trainer, Kennel hand and working at an animal sanctuary for farmed animals, to now taking the next steps in my passion and education by beginning my journey into certificate IV in Veterinary nursing.

My love of animals spreads far and wide from your typical small animals such as dogs, cats and rabbits to sheep, cows, goats, reptiles and more. Though I have a deep love for all animals my heart predominantly belongs to “Man's best friend” Dogs. You will most likely find me in the consult showering your pup with more treats than you would think possible and all the pats and attention they could ever want.

I am following in the footsteps of my clinic and being taught the Fear Free method of Animal care and soon to be gaining this accreditation in my journey. I share the values of my team and believe veterinary care should be preformed to suit the comfort levels of both pet and owner including clear and positive communication with owners to ensure peace of mind for them and professional care for their fur babies.

Dr Sally Elders BSc DVM
Certified Fear Free Professional

I graduated from the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the University of Melbourne in 2020. Growing up I have always wanted to work with animals and I am so lucky to be able to live out my dream.

I enjoy working with all animals great and small but am a cat person at heart (don't let this photo fool you!). I also love working with their hooman beings to build great relationships and promote education on veterinary health. I like to approach all my patients with a preventative and holistic approach. Since graduating, I have been exposed to a wide and interesting array of cases in medicine, surgery and emergency. I have developed a keen interest in dermatology, clinical pathology, imaging, feline medicine and internal medicine.

Although originally born and raised in Melbourne, I moved up to Bendigo with my husband and am proud to call myself a “Bendigonian”. I have a cheeky long-haired Chihuahua named Noah and although no cats at the moment, would love to return to fostering cats in the future. My favourite things are travelling, hiking, art and crafts, being a foodie and spending time with loved ones.
